Aaron Wall's SEO Book

The SEO book is always a book in progress (currently at more than 200 pages) written, frequently updated and revised by Aaron Wall.

This book consists of chapters for beginners and intermediate users to search engine optimization, including light topics such as brief history of how search engines develop, usability, basic copywriting, interactive elements, how to generate revenue to more intermediate chapters such as search engine specific optimization, anchor text, reciprocal linking, pay per click, results monitoring, hiring SEO, and more.

If you are an experienced search marketers, this book might not be for you other than for reference purpose. Casual users who have no idea about basic HTML, hosting and how to use search engines might not find this ebook appropriate. At least try a crash course on those topics first before proceeding with this material.

Aaron Wall has been known of his work in search marketing work for some years. He scrupulously researches and monitors the industry and writes down what he thinks about it in a daily SEO blog named after this popular e-book, SEOBook.com.

This book starts with informational texts about brief history of the web and general Internet topics. Not quite related to search marketing but still critical to success of any web site.

Later chapters reveal various aspects of search engines and the technology behind it. Many things work once a few years or months ago but trends are changing the way people optimize their web sites. Aaron has done a good job updating the e-book to at least keep the customers as close as possible to the reality of what works and what doesn’t.

The pay per click chapter is not the best thing I’ve found but serve as a good introduction about many aspects of PPC and how to buy ads on those search engines, write appropriately and tips to improve clichtrough rate. If you are serious about pay per click, I recommend you get another e-book to complement the information provided here.

This book blends good technical information into sections where appropriate and explains things in a way that is easy to understand.

In conclusion, I would say that the content in this book covers mostly everything any small business and service professional need to succeed in search marketing. If you plan to move or expand your business on the Internet and would like to know how to market using the search engines, this book is a must read.
