Free Traffic Tip: Blog Commenting

If you want extra traffic to your website today, here is one simple idea. No string attached, but you need to play by the rules. That’s the catch. Actually it’s not because it actually is useful for everyone. The tip is blog commenting.

The good things with a business or niche blog are:

  • It is targeted. A blog about a celebrity gossip is particularly contains posts related to that one celebrity only, and probably the persons related to her/him.
  • Responsive. Blog readers are actively search for new information related to a topic. They also actively post comments on the blog.
  • Actually purchase only. According to a survey by BlogAds, blog audiences are active and old-time Internet users, which are more likely to purchase stuff online. They also spend more time online.

Many people have realized about this and take advantage of the blog commenting system by spamming or manually submit unrelated information to the blog. All they want is the traffic. I call this stealing.

For instance, if I was to talk about e-mail marketing, I usually get a few blog comment in the form of press release from company XYZ about their particular product or service. Boring. They usually never get into the blog as I usually delete them.

If only they can post information particular to that post, I would be more than willing to let them display their link intact. No, I don’t allow signature in comment posts too, but the name is going to have their link in it.

Also, name is the name of the person who post it, not your keyword.

In a high traffic blog, posting comments have been proven to refer me traffic for again and again, especially if the post is timeless. You need to build them gradually though.

Playing by the rules allow all of us benefit from quality comments. Many bloggers have decided not to enable commenting because of the amount of spam. Abusing such great service won’t do any good for a long time.

With that said, you can always redirect the traffic to an opt-in page so you can capture their name and email. Knowing they are interested in particular topic means everytime you post your information about it, chances are if tyou publish e-mail newsletter, they will read, become repeated visitors and even customers of yours.

And now, you need a teaser for them to take action and opt-in, which is an entirely different post.
